Many dozens of interior designers and kitchen and bath designers have now answered this question, from both the USA and Canada.
Sharon Dranko, the former head of merchandising and product development for West Elm had been following my Instagram survey, unbeknownst to me. She compiled their answers into a summary infographic and sent it to me.

This is the original question I asked designers to answer.
Here is why I asked designers to work together with me to help educate homeowners about the real costs of a fine quality kitchen renovation in 2023.
Homeowners: every interior designer is always happy to design a beautiful, functional kitchen for you if you have a mid-range budget. There are several resources that will give you a range of investment for this level of kitchen in your part of the country.
But, for those of you seeing this post who are homeowners who want [ and who are ready to invest in ] the very best, fine quality kitchen, there are no resources available for you online to help you know what you need to be prepared to financially invest in this level of kitchen.
So, designers worked together with me to help educate you.
By reading the comments on the post, you, homeowners, will get very in depth, accurate financial information from experienced, knowledgeable interior and kitchen and bath designers who work on the very best, fine quality, high end, luxury kitchen remodeling projects for their clients on a daily basis.
And we all hope this post will help student designers and brand new designers get accurate information, too.
Homeowners: realize that even most average kitchen remodeling costs that you see quoted to you by TV shows, media outlets, and consumer surveys do not include:
Appliances
The customization you require or desire.
Design Fees
Additional behind the wall work that may be needed.
Soft furnishings, art, accessories and lighting.
Working with an experienced designer is the best investment in money/headaches and time saved you will ever make.
