Fearless Reinvention: A Conversation With Leslie Carothers
Fearless Reinventions of careers have always been common, but in today’s world, they are absolutely necessary for most of us and, at least for me [ and maybe for you, too? ] , hearing the stories of how people have navigated their own is always intriguing and educational.
Toma Clark Haines, aka as The Antiques Diva, pictured in the above image, who began antiquing as a hobby and turned it into one of the world’s most successful antique touring operations, currently employing 15 guides and covering Paris, Florence, Tuscany and The Cotswolds, has had several of her own.
Toma also has a podcast, The Business Of Antiques, and to say I was honored [ and SO surprised! ] when this world renowned antiques expert, inveterate traveller to far flung destinations around the world, consummate hostess and excellent writer, reached out to me to ask me to be a guest on her podcast, The Business Of Antiques, to talk with her about my own career reinventions would be an understatement!
But, she did and we had a great time talking together.
See these two short video clips from our conversation and then, if you’d like and when you have time, listen to the entire conversation here:

Here, Toma is asking me about my AILA sink collaboration with Thompson, the world’s first kitchen and bath product designed by AI and manufactured out of solid copper for real world use by Thompson’s coppersmithing artisans using the same tools and techniques they’ve been using since the 16th century.
We didn’t dwell on this, and if you’d like to read the full story of this collaboration and how it came to be, I wrote this post about it.
Toma, thank you for having me as your guest. I sincerely appreciated the invitation and I hope everyone who doesn’t already know you will go have a peek at your fabulous company, The Antiques Diva, so they can learn more.
And readers, if you don’t have the time to listen to the entire podcast, but have an interest in my business background and the various reinventions I’ve gone through in my career, I wrote this blog post about them:

And if you’ve been through your own career reinventions, I’d love to read about them in the comments on this post!
With Gratitude, Always.
