A Designer's Testimonial Re: What You Will Learn At My Education Day During Texas Design Week

TEXAS DESIGN WEEK - HOUSTON

Texas Design Week - Houston is almost here! This week long series of VIP soirees, salons, and booksignings, including the Paper City Magazine Design Awards gala and the all day Flowers in Bloom event at the Houston Design Center is an exciting time for everyone in Houston.

This year I am looking forward to partnering for the 3rd time with the event’s owners, Paper City Magazine’s editor in chief, Holly Moore, and Alton LaDay of Alton Laday Media, to sponsor and deliver the EDUCATION DAY programming, on Wed. March 27th from 10-3 at Creative Style Furniture, a to the trade only showroom for upholstery and custom cabinetry you will read more about - later in the post.

If you are a Houston, Texas based interior designer, or live in a city close enough to drive in for the day, I would love to have you attend!

Last spring, Holly and Alton’s EDUCATION DAY sponsor - besides my businesses, The Kaleidoscope Partnership + Savour Partnership - was Jayne Edison’s Office Furniture Innovations showroom.

This year, Jayne is once again sponsoring the AV portion of Holly and Alton’s EDUCATION DAY program and April Carter, the CEO of Creative Style Furniture, is sponsoring the location and catering.

Both of these women are dynamic and very successful CEO’s in Houston and I invite every designer in Houston to get to know them and their businesses.

These are some of the very talented Houston, Texas interior designers who attended EDUCATION DAY last Spring at Jayne’s showroom, Office Furniture Innovations.

One of them, the VERY glamorous Letricia Wilbanks, shown above - middle left ( Letricia is on the right), posted this on her Instagram feed after it was over, which I really appreciated. Letricia: thank you!

If you’re not following Letricia on Instagram yet, I invite you to do that by clicking, here.

In addition to Letricia’s lovely post, Studio Mackay ( Selena Mackay, Larissa Pineda, and Amanda Holliday ) attended, shown at the top of the image above.

After it was over, Mandy and Larissa came up to me and starting talking with me at length about how much they learned. I asked them if they would be willing to share what they were telling me face to face, on video, and they said, “Absolutely.”

Here’s that video:

This year, April will also be celebrating the grand opening of another 9000 sq. ft of space for her rapidly growing business that day, and everyone who attends will get a lunchtime tour of how fine upholstery and custom cabinetry is made.

As you can see from the collage I created below, Creative Style Furniture is used by some of Houston’s best known interior designers for custom furniture designs for their clients, many of whom have given April’s business glowing testimonials on her website, here.

Holly and Alton have planned many other wonderful and exciting design events taking place at various locations around Houston, too.

I am personally very excited to see Jean Louis Denoit again, whom I first met at #HPMKT when he debuted his spectacularly beautiful collection for Baker Furniture.

And Bunny Williams, an icon of American design, will be one of the judges for the Paper City Design Awards gala being held on Monday night at the Post Oak Hotel, as part of #TXDW, and also signing her book at the Flowers in Bloom event at the Houston Design Center on Tuesday.

Speaking of the Paper City Design Awards….last year, in 2018, one of the attendees of my EDUCATION DAY program, Melinda and John James of M. James Design Associates, won the award for Best Residential Interior Design Under 3500 SF.

Here’s how it appeared in this article in Paper City Magazine, about all of their award winners last year.

After attending my Education Day seminar, Melinda and John hired me to assist them with the project management for their new website, and it debuted last fall.

It is a stunningly beautiful site, and I invite you to see it, here.

The same web design team I recommended to Melinda and John, designed the gorgeous site of my past clients, and now good friends, Boston based interior designers, John Kelsey and Sally Wilson of www.wilsonkelseydesign.com.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN BY ATTENDING THIS YEAR’S #TXDW EDUCATION DAY?

Below are the major takeaways you will learn by attending EDUCATION DAY. If you think this information would be beneficial in helping you grow your business, I invite you to register as soon as you can, here.

Please note: the general admission price for all events is 100.00, including my EDUCATION DAY, but there are other ticket choices available, too, if you’d like to attend the Paper City Design Awards and the other VIP events.

SPONSORS

It’s wonderful to see these national sponsors and the Houston based sponsors, thanks to Holly and Alton’s hard work, come together to support this quality of design programming in Texas.

It’s going to be a great week of learning, inspiration, networking and friendships renewed, and I look forward to meeting many of you, very soon!
