5 Tips For Optimizing Your Interior Design Site For Chat GPT Search

Interior designers [and all others in home related industries ] it’s time to optimize your websites for Chat GPT search as Google is losing its predominance in search. More and more, your clients and customers are using Chat GPT to find you vs. Google.

To drive home this point, yesterday, 6.11, Google announced it was laying off people in its SEARCH division.

As some of you know, I recently wrote this blog post about how interior designer Rachel Moriarty found a great client through her client’s search on Chat GPT, and yesterday , June 11, 2025, I was quoted in this article written by Business of Home’s managing editor, Fred Nicolaus entitled, Will Your Next Client Come From Chat GPT?

Here are my 5 top tips for maximizing your interior design website for Chat GPT search.

And here’s a BONUS tip: Ask Chat GPT to analyze your website for ways you could improve it for Chat GPT search. I did this for my own website and the answer was detailed and extensive.

I have work to do!

Trust me, I know the last thing any of us really want to do is to have to do this, but search is changing FAST, and the need to adapt and shift is NOW.

By the way, I don’t offer this service, so this isn’t a pitch for your business. You will need to work with your website designer to make these changes. However, Chat GPT can be a pretty decent copywriter…..and then that copy can be sent to your human copywriter to turn it into sparkling, original content in your voice.

Original content is always prioritized by Google in search [and most of your potential clients appreciate it, too ] , and Google still hasn’t - yet - been replaced as the de facto search engine, although their AI Overviews and Sponsored Ads are pushing most of your websites down to the bottom of Page 1 or over to Page 2.
