Made In The USA Furniture: My Thoughts

Re: Furniture Made In The USA: My Thoughts.

I have been working this week, in partnership with the interior and kitchen and bath designers in my private Facebook Group, #DesignWealth , on compiling a list of furniture manufacturers whose entire lineup is *Made In The Usa*, due to tariff concerns.

I want to say this re: other furniture companies whose products are not Made In The USA:

1/ There are many furniture companies who have supported [and continue to support ] the events, the trips, the sponsorships of organizations, the educational opportunities that interior and kitchen and bath designers have been given whose products are not * Made In The USA *.

2/There are many furniture companies whose products are not manufactured in the USA but who provide jobs to hundreds of Americans in the areas of logistics, operations, finance, legal, marketing and sales.

3/These furniture companies, whose products are not Made In The USA, may not provide jobs on the production floor, but the truth is [as many of us in the industry know] there are not a lot of workers here in the US who:

A.Want jobs on a furniture manufacturer's production floor.
B.Have the skills necessary for those jobs.

So, if you're an interior designer or kitchen and bath designer friend of mine considering sourcing only *Made In The USA*, I’d like to encourage you to think about the bigger picture:

a. Which furniture companies are supporting your education as an interior designer?
b. Which furniture companies underwrite you or your industry's events?
c. Which furniture companies offer you an excellent trade discount so your business can thrive, financially?
d. Which furniture companies offer outstanding customer service when something goes wrong?
e. Which furniture companies are being very transparent with you re: tariff increases and when they are going to need to implement them so you have plenty of time to change your contracts and to inform your current clients?
